The SplendosBSD Project

Wath is SplendosBSD?

SplendosBSD is an open-source operating system designed to be a stable and powerful operating system for desktop users. The stability, performance and security of *BSD operating systems, and the usability and functionality of U-XDE, combine to create a system that is easy to use and install. In SplendosBSD Project, the three main goals have priority - security, stability, and usability. It is currently being developed and maintained by a very small community.

What is BSD?

The original BSD operating system was developed by the Berkeley University in California. Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) is an UNIX operating system derivative developed and distributed by the Computer Systems Research Group of the University of California, Berkeley, from 1977 to 1995. Today the term "BSD" is often used non-specifically to refer to any of the BSD descendants which together form a branch of the family of UNIX-like operating systems. Operating systems derived from the original BSD code remain actively developed and widely used.
